Jonah's Irony

My church is studying the book of Jonah. Many years ago I made this observation : Jonah knew the intention of God very well. He knew that if he obeyed God, Nineveh will be spared. Thus he ran away. The irony is that he forgot that God is Almighty and he cannot hide from him.
I like this para from my church bulletin on 23 July 2006 : "The wicked sees obedience as a set of burdens but the righteous sees obedience as for man's good. The rules and commands come from the One whose attributes are admirable and lovely to behold and should be our source of delight. Obedience should follow naturally. It should be quick, swift and complete."
